Holiday Eating Tips

I don't know about you, but to me, Christmas means cookies & candy & eating lots of food at parties. So how do you keep from overdoing it? My first tip is: if you don't have it in your home, then you are much less likely to eat it. But what do you do at a party?
  1. Eat before you go. Don't go hungry. Of course, eat something healthy.
  2. Go to the gym before going. This will kick up your metabolism so your body is burning the calories & continues for awhile after exercising.
  3. Walk around & decide what you are going to have before indulging. Try to stick to the healthier items.
  4. Walk around taking your time eating & visiting will give your body a chance to tell you when it is full.
  5. Watch out for the calories in drinks! Think about eggnog & alcoholic beverages.
  6. Eat dessert, but don't go overboard.
  7. Avoid the gelled cranberry sauce. It is pure sugar.
  8. Don't fall for the pressure from friends, family, or your mother.
  9. Don't beat yourself up, if you splurged too much. It is only one day. Get back on track & go to the gym the next day.
